My new favorite song like millions of other people is “Hello” by Adele. So we all know the lyrics to the song has her singing “Hello from the other side”. Which brings me to one of my other favorite songs by my favorite singer Wynonna Judd. Wynonna does an awesome song  called “The Other Side”. I just love putting the two of them together.

Do you know two great songs that are awesome of funny together?

I hope your New Year is going great.

Here are the two videos from youtube:

This one is really just the song put to a slide show. The song is still awesome.

A SAILS Thanksgiving Feast

It’s the Monday before the first big day of this Holiday season. Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving? Here in Metro Detroit (South East Michigan)  we have already had snow and ice, as much of the U.S. has had. But this morning it is a balmy 57 degrees here, with a wind advisory for this afternoon.

I have one child in a C.I. classroom for children with special needs. Each year the kiddos cook up a Thanksgiving Feast. So today we have been summoned to the Great Feast. It’s so fun to see the smiles of pride on the children’s faces. Each knowing that they have helped to prepare a part of the Feast, which their family members are partaking in.

This is Jeremy’s last year to help with the Feast since next year he will be moving up to the middle school. So it is a bit sad to attend today knowing that it’s one of the finally elementary school events that he so loves to do.

As we head into this busy week we are Thankful for each and every one of you who read this. If you are busy getting things ready for your own feast, take a moment to remember something to be thankful for, and breath. May your life be blessed with all the happiness that you each seek.

Enjoy Life, God Speed.

Throw Back Thursday

A year ago today (11/14/13) I was in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We stopped at the Gerald Ford Presidential Library; sadly it was already closed for the day. There were workers putting light on the tree’s outside the library in preparation for the coming Christmas season. One of the guys told us we should stick around for a little bit because there were going to test the lights to ensure everything was perfect for the upcoming tree lighting ceremony. Since it was a warm November evening and we weren’t in any hurry we decided to stick around to see the tree light.

About 10 minutes later the magic of the season begin at The Gerald Ford Presidential Library. The Library twinkled with presidential beauty. We snapped some photos of the scene, and all few dark again. The trees were now to remain dark until the official tree lighting ceremony, which was scheduled for later in November. It was a beautiful moment that evening in Grand Rapids, with a beautiful sunset to end the day.

The next day we drove up to Mackinaw via The Tunnel of Trees. This is an amazing drive along the lake. If you have never done it and you enjoy the back road this is a must. It was raining so I didn’t get photos.

We topped off the staycation in Mackinaw City, and Mackinaw Island. A perfect few days along lives journey.

Today is one of the most important days of the year. The day we honor the men and women who have served our country in the military. So many have surrendered their life’s so we can live with freedoms other are denied around the world. Other veteran’s live with the scars of war for the rest of their life; some scars can be seen while others aren’t so overt. Without our military we as a nation would not exist as nation.

Always remember freedom is free!

I found this video tribute on You Tube I hope you enjoy it and if you see a Vet today say thank you for serving us.

Veterans Day 2014

November’s Mondays are different than others. In November here in Michigan we are getting ready for snow, we know it Will descend upon our state at any moment. In November we respect the mighty winds that roar across our state, turning what was once a summer breeze into ship eating ‘Gales’ that’s have swallowed many a vessel on our great lakes.

The most famous of ships to be ingested by Lake Superior is the Edmund Fitzgerald, made legendary by Gordon Lightfoot’s song “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald”. In honor of all who have died on our fickle lakes here is the video of the song by Gordon Lightfoot.
