Throwback Thursday Grand Rapids Michigan A Perfect Moment In Time

November 13, 2014 · by ourneverendingstories

Throw Back Thursday

A year ago today (11/14/13) I was in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We stopped at the Gerald Ford Presidential Library; sadly it was already closed for the day. There were workers putting light on the tree’s outside the library in preparation for the coming Christmas season. One of the guys told us we should stick around for a little bit because there were going to test the lights to ensure everything was perfect for the upcoming tree lighting ceremony. Since it was a warm November evening and we weren’t in any hurry we decided to stick around to see the tree light.

About 10 minutes later the magic of the season begin at The Gerald Ford Presidential Library. The Library twinkled with presidential beauty. We snapped some photos of the scene, and all few dark again. The trees were now to remain dark until the official tree lighting ceremony, which was scheduled for later in November. It was a beautiful moment that evening in Grand Rapids, with a beautiful sunset to end the day.

The next day we drove up to Mackinaw via The Tunnel of Trees. This is an amazing drive along the lake. If you have never done it and you enjoy the back road this is a must. It was raining so I didn’t get photos.

We topped off the staycation in Mackinaw City, and Mackinaw Island. A perfect few days along lives journey.

Thursday’s Child Tries To Decorate A Bookcase

May 8, 2014 · by ourneverendingstories

Hi, I hope you are having an awesome day. I want to share with you what my bookcase looks like.

I love bookcases. The perfect spot to make a statement and have some fun. I have also includes some tips on how I decorate my bookcase.

This bookcase is the one in my master bedroom. I have several throughout the house, and each is a little different. This one is more me because I am the main person who looks at it every day.

Thursday’s Child Love’s a nice looking bookcase.

My ideas of a nice looking bookcase I am sure is different from others. Let me explain what I like in a bookcase.

First it’s your bookcase and it should reflect that. So if you like Archie and hate that leather bond first edition copy of War and Peace what the heck sell it on Craigslist and buy a new comic or two.

So now that you scored that Archie comic you wanted, and its setting on a shelve looking oh so perfect let’s fill in the empty space.

Let’s start with a few pictures of your most beloved family members. You say you don’t have any family you want to display, well just download a fake family from the Internet. Remember, if you do this you don’t want to be the ugly one. If your real family comes over just tell them its friends.

A small sample of things you like to collect is sure to personally that bookcase. I like to collect Jack-in-the-box. So I have one shelve with Jack on it.

I also love the look of vintage books. Vintage books are a steal at almost any estate sale. If the price is to high the first day wait and go back on the last day of the sale after one and you can get them for almost free. People don’t want to have to deal with the books that didn’t sell.

I always try to group the books. I would never but the book titled That Affair Next Door with a stack of Christian books.

Color grouping is a personal choice. Some people group by one color with can have a dramatic effect, while other people mix everything together. I personal group darks together then I group similar subjects together. This can be trickle if it’s a new bookcase and you don’t have enough books.

I also like to add a small amount of trinkets that again reflect thinks I love to look at.

The most important thing is when you are done you should be able to stand back and say awe.

Thursday’s Child : Throwback To The Archies Cartoons #1

March 27, 2014 · by ourneverendingstories

The ArchiesI loved The Archies, as a matter of fact I still do. I spent many an hour reading Archie comic books, and watching the shows. When I found some of the episodes on-line I was elated.

So I am thrilled to do this throwback to 1969 and the first episode of the Archies.

I hope you enjoy this nostalgia look back to when cartoon were without violence, and had teenagers in them that didn’t morph into strange looking creatures from the Abyss.

Goodbye & Heaven

Goodbye & Heaven

IMG_7465

After several days of cohabiting because of medical problems, and the Polar Vortex it was time for my daughter and her children to return to their own home.

Kenny, the Rockstar kindergartner who is 5 going on 22 and I were having a dramatic goodbye conversation.  I told him, well I guess I will see you in several years.  He sadlly says how long? Me, maybe 10 years, you will be 15. Him with a big lip, oh. Me, so when are you going to see me? Silence. Kenny looks at me with a smile and says, don’t worry Gram I will see you in HEAVEN. Silence, and a stunned look from me. Me, so how long are you going to live? Him, oh I am going to live a long time and grow really old before I go see God.  Him, and your going to live a long time to, oh and I  love you Gram.

Me, oh and relieved.

Don’t you just love conversations with little people who are just keeping it real?

Thursdays Child

May 12, 2011 · by ourneverendingstories

Thursdays child has far to go.

I am a Thursday child and this is my first post under this catergorie. Thursdays post will be anything I feel like posting. In other words Thursday post is all about things I like or don’t. Each week you will also find the poem from which Thursdays child was taken at the end of the post. This week I have choosen to share a passage from Marianne Williamson’s book A Return to Love:

  Our Deepest Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are poweful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves,

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD.

Your playing small does not serve the world …

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

We unconscilously give other people

Permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.”

What wonderful words to live by “don’t play small”.  I actually have this up in my bedroom to remind  me often not to “play small”. I hope you enjoy and maybe find a little inspiration in it. So go out and play big and help the world around you.

Monday’s Child

Mondays Child is fair of face,

Tuesdays child is full of grace,

Wednesdays child is full of woe,

Thursdays child has far to go,

Fridays child is loving and giving,

Saturdays child works hard for his living,

And the child that is born on the Sabbath day

Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
